The Shape of Wisdom

Here’s some astrology for ya. Today:

  • Venus, the Moon, and Jupiter are all together in Mars’ sign of Aries, a fire sign, which is my house of home/family.

  • Mars is in Mercury’s sign of Gemini, an Air sign, my house of labor and drudgery.

  • That trickster Mercury is in Aquarius, my house of finances, making exact aspectual contact with Mars today.

I went to the mailbox this morning and found an overdue gas bill AND a jury summons. At that precise time, the Moon was rising.

If you look at the three topical places involved, their elemental compositions, the character of the planets responsible for them, and their positional relationships with each other, I think you’ll agree that this is a rather precise and radical manifestation of this transit in my life.

Sometimes, this zero-fun-haver voice in my mind says, “You’re just pattern-matching on whatever is in front of you, there’s nothing special here.” But I remind that voice, that’s because THE PATTERN IS EVERYWHERE. Singling out examples is actually the fallacy.

The practice of divination is in always ENRICHING the forms of the pattern. The surprise is not that there are patterns at all, but in the DETAIL and RADICALITY of the symbolism at all scales, which takes training to look for, and that training grows you into the shape of wisdom.
