Doing It Wrong

It is an increasingly bright red flag to me in spiritual circles to believe that the majority of practitioners of your own tradition do it wrong.

If you are part of something that is basically defined by people sharing a way of seeing the world, and you are drawing different conclusions from most of those people, that difference should be your central inquiry.

Ask yourself which is more likely:

  1. You are a visionary offering a course correction to your tradition at a pivotal moment.

  2. You’re in the wrong scene.

If you believe 1, how’s your vision-to-complaining ratio?

There is another possibility, of course:

0. You don’t understand everything, so there is something to learn from other people in your tradition.

But if that wasn’t your assumption going in, 🚩🚩🚩🚩🚩, and if it was, what happened to that?
