Horary 0038: Will the Parcel My Best Friend Sent Me Arrive?
Overview
The querent’s ex-partner (relations are good) sent the querent a package into which they put creative effort, making it irreplaceable. The querent did not know what was inside, only that it was significant in this way. The querent was content to wait, but the sender seemed quite upset at the prospect of it being lost, and it had been a month already, so they engaged my services.
Judgment
I gave the querent Mercury the messenger, ruler of the ascendant.
I figured the best significator for the package would be the 2nd from the 7th, the sender’s possession. Appropriately to the situation, that is Saturn, the slowest planet. I immediately became curious whether Saturn’s natural significations — dark, heavy, concrete, dense — would describe the package’s contents as well. I noted Saturn’s next aspect would be with Mercury, after Mercury changes signs soon.
The Moon is also a significator for a traveler or message or object in transit — though it can also be taken as a secondary significator for the querent — but I noticed its rulership of the 2nd house — the querent’s possession. I also noticed it was in its joy in the 3rd house of messages and communication, and that it was also applying an aspect to Mercury.
I judged the package would indeed arrive.
Remarkably, both aspects to Mercury perfect in about 7º, and both indicate a “medium”-length unit of time according to horary timing rules. The rules of timing in horary are clear but somewhat unreliable, but when there are multiple clear indications of the same timeframe, that’s not to be overlooked. Given that the querent had already been waiting a long time, I judged that “short” would be hours, “medium” would be days, and “long” would be weeks.
I informed the querent that the package would arrive in about a week.
Outcome
Quite ironically, this horary took two months to resolve because my messages got stuck in the spam folder. I love that because the 7th house can be taken as the astrologer as well, so my own “package” was also signified by Saturn and took longer than it should have to arrive.
I followed up a couple times and eventually got through. The querent let me know the package had indeed arrived within around a week of their question.
It contained two books as well as a bunch of specially chosen rocks and shells. Heavy. Dense. Structural. Saturnian.
Analysis
What a fantastic chart. There’s enough multifaceted and precise testimony here that it had to work out, which is why I was a little perplexed that I hadn’t heard anything for months. Now that I have, I see that even that part of the question was radical.
