Devotion to Lineage

The solution to endless annoying protocol debates about reconstructing spirituality/magic is devotion to lineage, by the way.

I’m paying like 40% attention to anything anyone says about How to Do It Correctly unless they’re speaking only for themselves. That 40% is about learning what the attitudes of unfamiliar sources are for essentially social reasons. It seems super dysregulating to be more involved.

What I am online for, with respect to such questions, is the swapping of stories, tips and tricks, and “Here’s what i did in a similar situation.” The stuff travelers from unknown lands have always shared at way stations. The people I want to talk to are FROM somewhere, as I am.

It’s still pretty easy to get me exercised with a declarative statement about How to Do It Correctly if it misrepresents my lineages, because I am a hot-headed and proud person, but it’s still for social reasons. I’m defending my people from others’ preconceptions, that’s all.

Part of my motivation for speaking on this is that I feel genuinely sorry for people floundering around on their own. It looks painful. But it’s emphatically NOT a SIMPLE matter of broken ancestral lines. You aren’t S.O.L. ONE PERSON can be your lineage, if you’re devoted.

And you can be devoted to multiple lineages! I’m not making that tiresome “pick one and stick with it” argument. I’m saying “TRUST WHAT YOU YOURSELF HAVE ENCOUNTERED WHEN SINCERELY SEEKING, and remember what you’ve learned.”
