How Scientific Objection to Wands of Horus Would Have to Work

I mentioned in my Wands of Horus post that I am naturally skeptical of claims about the spiritual-material interface, and that I have used this to my advantage in finding amazing practices that overcome my skepticism and work beautifully for me.

My natural skepticism would never satisfy a religious rationalist/materialist, though, because I accept experience as empirically valid observation. If something reliably works for me, I do not need further evidence beyond its continued reliability.

That said, it amuses me to think about what rigorous scientific testing of Wands of Horus would entail.

You can’t reject them out of hand and say “that doesn’t work.” That’s a faith claim. These things were not designed by whim. However hand-wavey it may be, there is a scientific approach behind the choices of their design and materials. To debunk it, science must be done.

To debunk Wands of Horus according to conventional material science would involve electromagnetic and biometric measurements, testing of different materials and methods of use, etc. The instruments would first have to be proven to adequately measure the right KIND of signals.

But the configuration of the wands isn’t the only set of variables. The configuration of the body (including whatever energetic systems it is enmeshed in) will have to be measured comprehensively, accounted for, and treated as a single complex system inclusive of the wands.

But there’s more. There are also reported experiential effects of the wands. To measure those would require reliable self-reporting and correlation of self-reports with whatever measurements could be taken in order to “identify” the physical state corresponding with the report.

Good luck with that. Decades of research has been unable to make convincing demonstrations of such correlations about ANYTHING “psychological.”

The alternative is to admit the experiential as evidence — which all evidence is — TRY IT YOURSELF, and notice what happens.
