Questions, Answers, and the Nature of Mars

Mars wants to answer. I want to question.

Questioning is the state of openness and receptivity. This is the condition in which I feel free to express whatever is arising without needing to know whether it is correct or not. The forms of practice to which I am drawn lead me in no single direction, or any number of parallel, non-intersecting directions, and this is my natural inclination.

But the world of action and its attendant nonstop emergencies require martial decision, commitment to one course at a time, and the inevitable encounter with its consequences. This results, naturally, in the martial realities of tension and stress. These are not unnatural conditions, but they have natural consequences: pain, damage, ultimately death.

Questioning allows the release of tension caused by answering.

In the war of answers, questioning wages peace.
