Nonduality of Posture
A person can fail to notice anything; sensations and ideas are no different in that regard. But a body’s POSTURE is obvious and public. An IDEOLOGY can hide forever.
One is a more reliable source than the other.
It’s not that I mistrust ideas or concepts THEMSELVES. It’s that awareness of ideological posture is a newer, subtler skill, and monocultural social structures have selected for NOT HAVING IT as the desirable default.
Works great, if you’re in the ideological monoculture.
I don’t trust people in an ideological monoculture to know they’re in one at all, much less how they fit into it. So I tend to trust people who are demonstrably outside of it, as visible in their cultural expressions, as well as people who are good at POSTURE IN GENERAL.
I have found that greater embodied awareness tends to indicate — or at least foretell — greater enminded or ideological awareness, enough to use it as one shorthand for trustworthiness. It’s not a duality, remember. It’s different modalities with different qualities.
But does embodiment GUARANTEE ideological awareness? Is it a SAFE indication?
Absolutely damn not.
The nonduality of posture, though, means ideological posture shapes actions just as physical posture does. THAT is why I don’t trust people on concepts alone.
It’s a lot easier to detect posture in a handshake than in a sentence.
Actions and relations are where the proof is.
