No Dumb Questions with Practical Astros: Precession of the Equinoxes
There are many technical questions in our modern era of reconstructing ancient and time-tested astrological traditions that are both really good and extremely frustrating. Chief among them is certainly the question of whether to choose to use a tropical or sidereal zodiac, or the question’s many variations caused by not understanding that zodiac signs and constellations are not the same thing, or that the classical ecliptic constellations are vastly different sizes rather than the equal slices of sky used in astrology, or that constellations are coincidental illusions that can only be seen from one place in the universe, or that stars themselves move on their own trajectories, and thus even those illusions will be erased over time, and so forth.
So many bad-faith constructions of astrology are grounded in these questions, and so many stumbling blocks preventing people from understanding astrology are posed by not answering them.
But they are not dumb questions. They’re critically important. They demand the development of a comprehensive and rigorous view of astrology, what it is, how it works, and what it’s for, and so precious few people are willing to put enough work in to get to that point — and it should be the starting point!
I was delighted to be asked by my dear friend Christa of Practical Astros to take a crack at answering these questions together.
